Two Alphas

It all begins with God, with God it ends,
“I am the Alpha and Omega,” Jesus said,
on this alone our destiny depends,
for He will judge the living and the dead.

Yet I live like it starts and ends with me,
I am the one that I must figure out,
it’s history before I came to be,
my here and now’s what I most care about.

If all is God, I can’t be all there is,
if God’s in, then I’m in, for the long haul,
it can’t be mine, if everything is His,
if I don’t rise to Him, then I will fall.

It’s all too much for me, O Lord, that's true,
But if You’re for me, what more can I do?
