Faithful Heart

On Corpus Christi, where’s my faithful heart?
Today His soul and body I receive--
will my poor soul and body do their part?
It’s in my heart and soul I must believe.

There in my mind and soul I have a choice:
Accept God’s gift of faith or now refuse,
faithless--regret, or faithful and rejoice?
Courage my heart! For I must will to choose.

Today I eat His body, drink the cup,
make mine His soul and His divinity,
take courage, faithful heart, do not give up,
return to Him, my soul, the whole of me.

My sins forgiven, let guilt and shame be still,
and faced with choosing faith, O Christ, I will!
