Prodigal Mercy

God favors mercy for me over wrath,
He shows me mercy like His Prodigal Son,
I see the Father there with eyes of faith,
and in the son, myself and everyone.

Of course, the wayward son tells his repentance,
no mercy's shown for those who won't repent,
he says he'll be a servant for his sentence,
but God loves mercy more than punishment.

Sin is so bad because God is so good,
I'm so wrong when the good God I've offended,
as dawn drowns night, where sordid sin has stood
so glows God's light when mercy is extended.

O stubborn sin, I yet will conquer you,
when I repent graced with God's mercy true.
