Gentle God

If God is greater than the world He made,
if He's more powerful than the universe,
yet gently tells us to "be not afraid,"
to give Him thanks and praise we could do worse.

If God dotes on us, counting every hair,
forming us gently in our mother's womb,
flooding us with His tender loving care,
He's worth a weekly worship, we presume.

If God sees all since He's ubiquitous,
and He's omniscient to the Nth degree,
all secrets He already knows of us,
there's no escaping His divine decree.

Yet, perfect God, I am still free to choose
Your gentle company to keep or lose.
