True Identity

Who am I--what’s my true identity?
My first thought is I’m human and a man.
But what’s the most important part of me?
My soul, more than that I’m American.

I am a person like the Trinity,
made in the image of our God on high,
I am a Christian and Christ lives in me,
a temple of the Holy Spirit am I.

But best of all, I am a child of God,
down here, beloved by God Who rules above,
a brother in Christ, a member of His squad,
an heir of heaven, ever in His love.

If I to You stay faithful to the end,
I will, O Lord, forever be Your friend.
