Each gift God gives me is a favor from
a God Who loves me gently without end,
to save my soul and make His Kingdom come,
to show how He's a brother and a friend.
Each gift of suffering, each gift of pain,
another favor and so friendly given,
for if I suffer not, there is no gain,
which thief can never steal away in heaven.
Gifts given here are worth a hundredfold,
whether by me to Him or Him to me,
for given back to God and not here sold,
they give both God and me our victory.
I've heard the prize goes to the smart and swift,
I'll settle for regifting God's good gift.
