Game of Love

Love is a game, but one without a score,
for if you try to score, you lose big time;
though some may say all's fair in love and war,
only the fairest love will reach sublime.
In love to make a hit you have to swing,
but not too much or you'll be counted out;
claiming a touchdown's not the only thing,
too much at play can only bring a rout.
Go down the field before you make a pass,
give each a sporting chance far from the goal;
when in the huddle, leave some time for class,
too many putts to par may cost your soul.
Control the ball, the one you want to catch,
strive on the court to win: love game, set, match.
