Beside Mary

O Mary, what a privilege it is
to stand beside you in your hours of grief,
when you stand near those great events of His,
and give you some as you give Him relief.
Like some great crowds of onlookers include
each individual fan in sync, we are
involved as witnesses that don't intrude,
in awe and sympathy with our great star.
Your fear for Him and His great suffering
cause you to feel a sword cut seven times,
we share in hope some solace we might bring,
and make up for our share in those great crimes.
O Mother Mary, help us to embrace
your painful space, His stoic face, God’s grace.
