Suffusion

God's light of love suffuses every star,
each drop of ocean and each grain of wheat,
all molecules and atoms that there are,
each granule of salt sharp and sugar sweet.
So too His light of love suffuses me,
unsensed by me, unheard, unfelt, unseen,
unknown to me, but known eternally
and sensed by Him and felt with love most keen.
What contrast 'twixt His light and my dark deep,
how different is our shared attentiveness,
mine feeble, muted, lax, all but asleep,
His constant, stalwart, bright, all but excess.
I pray, O God, help me in others to
suffuse anew the light of love from You.
