Love Given

Love's not a feeling but a thing we show,  

when we but feel love then there's not much there,  

love stands not still but must be on the go,  

love blossoms when we show it as we share.  

Love's not emotion but a thing we do,  

and it's not something we just put to words,  

love's real in action when we follow through,  

romantic love alone is for the birds.  

Love is not fleeting, love's for the long haul,  

unfickle love is a commitment best,  

if love's not loyal, it's not there at all,  

our active faithful true love does not rest.  

So lift your feeling, love, and let it live,  

not something that we get but what we give.
