Onion God
God’s like an onion with its layers of skin,
to get to know Him, you must do some peeling,
each bit of knowledge comes in strips so thin,
yet full of precious grace and powerful feeling.
Sometimes the Godly knowledge makes you cry,
like vapors of an onion bring a tear,
but tears of joy are mellow to the eye,
and waves of grace don’t sting, so have no fear.
A little God-learn goes a long, long way,
so He won’t let us strip aside too much,
unlike the onion peel, His favors stay,
to flavor us and everything we touch.
Beneath Your onion skin, what do You hide?
Lord, let me peel with faith to see inside.
