Love and Loyalty

I’m loyal to myself and loyal to You,
the power of love creates my loyalty,
I love myself and I love You, Lord, too,
I love the most who cares the most for me.

Does anyone care for me as much as I?
I feed and clothe myself, I rest my head,
I’ll work for me until the day I die,
the sweat a’ my brow earns me my daily bread.

And You, Lord, gave me life and give me love,
You give me family, friends, the universe there,
You send down grace and strength from heaven above,
You grant me bread, not stones, with every prayer.

If loyalty springs from love, and love from caring,
should I not love You most, Your endless sharing?
