Humble Power

I lie in bed and talk to God, Who hears,
how He can hear and why are mysteries,
there is no sound except between my ears,
yet in the silent dark He hears and sees.
He is my friend Who made the earth and sky,
and then He made my body and my soul,
He gave me life that I might live and die,
He made me free and left me in control.
He gave me laws and asks me to obey,
He is a person Who rules from above,
He asks that I might talk to Him, to pray,
in thought and word and deed He wants my love.
Mysterious, powerful God, and good friend too,
 Your great humility draws me to You.
