Pride and Doubt
To doubt God and His power is just pride,
a narrow-minded view of reality,
to live in God’s world thinking I can hide,
to say the only things are what I see.
Like Thomas, must I touch Christ with my hand,
and to believe, to me must God appear,
that only things exist I understand,
that I’ll believe if I can see God here?
This view restricts me but to what I feel,
I blind myself to God as too aloof,
if He won’t let me see Him, He’s not real,
as I demand of God: More proof! More proof!
So where’s there room for prayer and faith, O Lord,
and for my lack thereof, where’s my reward?
