Mysteries
What need have we to bide a mystery,
acknowledging our puny human mind?
It takes a good dose of humility
that there be answers we will never find--
that God can be a person and be God,
that in His image-likeness we are made,
that mercy's God rules with an iron rod,
that we should fear Him yet not be afraid.
Why in our ignorance are we so proud,
when barely just the surface do we scratch
of all of this creation He's endowed,
and what He knows we midgets never match?
Just to have You present a mystery
is good enough, O God, for meekest me.
