Does God Love Me?

They say God loves me, but how do I know?
That God made me, that’s true--a kind of proof,
but more than that, how does His kindness show?
He won’t show me Himself, He’s so aloof.

God’s infinite, is His love infinite too?
Then why does He not prove it to me plain?
Why must I work so hard to prove He’s true?
Yet for a love like His I search in vain.

They say God loves me as He’s personal,
His love shines personal through others’ love,
since God is love, love is a miracle,
God, love, and heaven--all that I’m dreaming of.

God gives all this, so what more do I seek?
To doubt, to ask it, takes a lot of cheek.
