Christ is a lion, but He is more than that,
more than mere animal, more man than mouse,
though sometimes kitten, He is one cool cat,
invite Him in, He'll roar around the house.
He is not just a tiger burning bright,
He died like Aslan and came back to live,
He does not want to go bump in the night,
He shows us love He only wants to give.
Life's jungle sees Him waiting like a beast,
to leap with all His power to be shared,
all goodness, truth and beauty--what a feast!
--for those contrite who bring their souls prepared.
O Christ, instead of making us Your meat,
it is Your Lion body that we eat.
