What Trumps?

We’re supposed to look out most for number one,
but, Lord, You are the Number One of all,
we’re told to go for feel good now and fun,
but, Lord, to higher things it’s us You call.

It’s less about our feelings than our faith,
don’t go with just your heart, but with your soul,
care less to conquer life, but rather death,
look less upon the moment, more the goal.

Live less the loud, but listen more, be still,
seek wisdom of the ages, not the fad,
it’s less how much we know, but what we will,
love God and good, and He’ll forgive the bad.

Down here some trumped-up things get sacrificed,
when we, like Paul, “Put on the mind of Christ.”
