God Rescue

How often You, O God, have rescued me,
how smashing is Your swat-team rescue squad
to lead me gently to eternity,
how deep You get involved, my Personal God.

You hover by my soul beyond the beach,
my lifeguard hauling me safe back to land,
at sea You keep my ship within Your reach,
my sail and steerage guided by Your hand.

You lend me strength and courage when I’m weak,
when hot, You cool me, cold, You hold me warm,
secure You draw me past a windy peak,
providing refuge from the threatening storm.

I know, Lord, when the terrible trouble’s through,
I mostly have been rescued, thanks to You.
