Alienated Not

I am not alienated from You, Lord,
how can I bite the mighty hand that made me?
I can’t oppose Your terrible swift sword,
I want to aid the One Who’ll always aid me.

What more can God give me that He has not--
my life, my freedom, His own infinite love?
He’s granted to me everything I’ve got,
and soon eternal joy in heaven above.

If no one else defends You, Lord, I will,
though how can the Almighty need defense?
Perhaps because we’re free to love or kill,
and some want to kill You, if that makes sense.

If alienation’s arrogance we choose,
nothing to win and everything to lose.
