Great God

(Dedicated to Christopher Hitchens,
     author of “God Is Not Great”)

If God's not great, then neither great is love,
for God is love, and we all think love's great;
if love's not great, what are we thinking of?
Without great love, there's nothing left but hate.
If God's not great, why is He on your book?
You think our faith you can persuade us from?
To know great God, all you must do is look,
and see Creation great 'til Kingdom come.
If God's not great, then nothing's left but fate
to make this great Creation we can see;
and how can fate then all things great create?
Fate can't decide to be or not to be.
O God, for You there is no substitute,
if You're not great, then I don't give a hoot.
