Eternal Things

I am concerned about such petty things,
when there's a great eternal world at stake,
I'm focused on the short-term that life brings,
when there's a blithe infinity to take.
Life lasts forever but not these machines,
no moving vans go with us to the grave,
for us possessions aren't a hill of beans,
judged not by what we got but what we gave.
My destiny is mine for I am free,
I should be wanting less instead of more,
God's ways sometimes seem upside down to me,
like better off not being rich but poor.
Instead of so much stuff that takes up space,
O God, give me a soul that's full of grace.
