When You're Not There

O Christ, where are You when You are not there,
how can I see the You I cannot see?
Yet I sense You are listening to my prayer,
and I feel You are looking now at me.

Why can’t I see You more when I want to,
when I’m depressed and need to know You care?
I am not certain where I can find You,
when I am troubled, and life is so unfair.

I know some answers lie inside Your book,
I too can feel Your presence in Your church,
I know some help is there if I’d just look,
I know You’ll lead me if I pray and search.

Perhaps You’ll show Yourself a bit more here,
if I just open up my heart sincere.
