Father God
Mysterious God and Father of us all,
begetter of the Son You love so much,
You two beget the Spirit by love’s call,
O Father we can’t see or hear or touch.
You leave tremendous mysteries in Your wake,
a universe that You’re Creator of,
then You make us like some perverse mistake,
while really You immerse us with Your love.
You give us life, then heaven as destiny,
You drench us with Your bread and wine and grace,
then hide from us what, Lord, we long to see--
in us the image and likeness of Your face.
This visual distance, Father God That’s You,
demands of us a faith that’s strong and true.
