The Best of You

O God, if I can sin behind Your back,
how can I sin before Your loving face?
If I fall weak to Satan's bold attack,
how can I fall when me You fill with grace?

O God, am I a faithless tool of Yours,
a symbol of Your failure to succeed?
Or do I fall to all the Devil's lures
because I'm just a weak and broken reed?

Why am I weak when You still strengthen me?
I blame this fallen world, my fallen ways,
my lack of insight to Your mystery,
I take too light the light Your Church displays.

Teach me, O God, Your message strong and true,
that I may represent the best of You.
