God of Briney Sea

I see You, God, within the briney deep,
how smart You are, how I admire You,
You made the sea where whale and pirate sleep,
from floor to wave You rule the brine and blue.
On one Creation day You spawned the ocean,
You split the earth to briney sea and land,
You set the modest minnow into motion,
and placed the giant shark at my command.
You fired my mind with Nemo's Nautilus,
my gut with Long John Silver's fish and chips,
my myths with Neptune's storms and octopus,
my history with fair Helen's thousand ships.
Yet more, O Lord, than tales and briney sea,
You poured Your greatest love on tiny me.
