Good God

If it is good, it comes from God, we know,
the world cannot give good that it has not,
nor Satan, his divided house would go,*
nor can we give the good we haven’t got.

Since God’s all good, from Him all good must come,
though deep in us we find some goodness there,
God made us good and of His gave us some,
from love for us, His good He wants to share.

To be and do His good, He made us free,
we can’t find good in any other place,
God gives us here the power to make good be,
and here we do good only by His grace.

To choose good here, Lord, You give me control,
and therein lies the destiny of my soul.

* When his enemies asked if Christ’s power
might come from Satan, Jesus said, “A house
