God Share

How do we share in God's divinity?
His freedom's ours, unshared by animals,
just like our human rationality,
and prayers that work our spiritual miracles.

God's image stamped on our immortal soul,
God's Son alive in all our human race,
the Spirit's voice to prompt us and cajole,
all aiding us with God's amazing grace.

God's gift of faith will open heaven's gate,
we charm like Christ with willing suffering,
language and knowledge we accumulate,
we too forgive, to slay the devil's sting.

O Lord, I pray that You make these all mine,
for they add up to love, Your love divine.
