I need a healthy diet for my cancer,
the sickness that already takes a toll,
cut down on sweets and fast foods is an answer,
but what about the cancer of my soul?
A few more years a cure would let me live,
a temporary, transitory goal,
but chemo for a spiritual cure would give
eternal joy in heaven for my soul.
A pill of true repentance I will take,
a prayer with every apple in my bowl,
some healthy Gospel verses for Christ’s sake,
His Eucharist to salve my sorry soul.
With chemo I will take my Rosary
and tend too my forever destiny.
