God's Interest

Why should I take an interest, Lord, in You?
I know if I take heed You'll reel me in
closer and closer to a rendezvous,
where You'll sway me to soon address my sin.

I am an independent man, so why
should I take interest in One I can't see?
Whatever I may need I can supply,
and I don't feel You taking care of me.

I'm not so sure sometimes that You're around,
for I don't see the outcome of my prayer,
I don't want rules to which I must be bound,
aren't we too busy, both of us, to care?

You promise me eternal life, it's true,
why, God, should I be interested in You?
