Heart of Gold

We know some people have a heart of gold,
we always find attractive such a heart,
a guileless innocence we there behold,
a gentle love for us sets them apart.

No one it seems can fit the bill like Christ,
regardless how He looked, He’s beautiful,
no greater love than one self-sacrificed,
for others He made many a miracle.

The heart of Jesus showed in all His care,
His pity for the sick, the blind, the sinners,
His teachings--loving, humble, decent, fair,
His sufferings great, His death that made us winners.

But most--to be like us, from heaven above
He came, and proved a heart of golden love.
