Adopt and Adapt

God is in charge, yet He adapts to me,
but creature should adapt to the Creator,
yet in His foolishness, God makes us free,
though wiser than us, He is no dictator.

We’re made His sons by water and the Spirit,
adopted yet unruly rebel sinners,
His heirs, we’re given heaven to inherit,
for He can turn us losers into winners.

Should not adopted be adapted to
a Father Who has power to make the rules?
Not if we’re free, though He can still pursue
to cool the foolishness of us poor fools.

Your love, O Lord, lets You adapt to me,
love only will make me adapt to Thee.
