Friend Lucas

I have delivered you to God, my friend,
and He will know just what to do with you,
for now with His own life Your life will blend,
from now on just what He wants you will do.

Recall when last I looked into your eyes,
we knew not then that it would be the last,
your death completely caught me by surprise,
that all our friendship, friend, lay in the past.

You have no future now except with God,
no other future would we want to be,
no more complaints, no longer the facade,
you live in light for all eternity.

I helped you, now may you help me, my friend,
so that our life with God will never end.
