Fog of Guilt

How can I face You, Lord, when I have sinned?
It’s hard to meet You through a fog of guilt;
of course, I fear my being disciplined,
but more I’ve hurt the friendship that we’ve built.

It helps to get me down upon my knees,
I’ve wanted, yes, to sin but not to hurt,
I do desire that You forgive me, please,
my soul to clean, my heart hope to convert.

Your mercy, Lord, is inexhaustible,
I do desire to gaze upon Your face,
I hope and pray that by some miracle,
You pour upon my soul Your saving grace.

Just like before, let me without surprise,
look deep, O Lord, into Your loving eyes.
