Lord in the Field

How do we take the Lord into the field?
We take Him easy when we stay at home;
against the storms how can my soul be steeled,
when all along the lonely road I roam?

Since there's distraction everywhere I look,
inside concealed, I'll bear a life of prayer,
without my books, I'll bring and teach His book,
and hope to find somewhere a church to share.

Despite the sights, I'll live a life upright,
my witness will display the Lord with me,
He'll give me light and courage in the night,
acceptance for my loss or victory.

Lend me Your courage, Lord, Your Word revealed,
to take the field with grace and not to yield.
