Instinctive Prayer

When trouble comes, we call on God in prayer,
instinctively we know we have His ear,
instinctively we know that He is there,
that He can read our mind right now, right here.

Our part’s the prayer, we know He’ll do His part,
we’re motivated by our desperation,
the way to pray He’s written on our heart,
He answers, we respond with our elation.

How gracious is our God, how meek, how kind,
for all His might, with us He is in love,
both us and how to pray He has divined,
He rules inside of us, not just above.

When I need help, I pray quick as can be,
why can’t I always pray instinctively?
