Helpless God
You don’t need me, and yet You ask my aid,
You make Yourself so vulnerable down here,
how helpless You were in Your manger laid,
I want to say, “Don’t worry, I am near.”
You make Yourself dependent here on me,
while I am most dependent here on You,
yet neither of us needs to helpless be,
when we share so much power between us two.
You wish that we a team can be, O Lord,
You I defend and love with all my might,
You make me here Your voice, Your hands, Your sword,
and yet You never let me from your sight.
I trust our team of two will get somewhere,
if here we’re first together, Lord, in prayer.
