Always There

I have a prayer I pray before I pray,
but then before I pray it, I’m aware
the One Who never ever goes away
is then with me as He is always there.

To come to me I do not have to ask,
instead it’s I must go to Him, I know,
I must be real, I have to drop the mask,
I’m here because I’ve nowhere else to go.

It’s best in dark and quiet when we’re alone,
not just to pray, but mostly listen too,
my life, my sins, my future I must own,
like His, I must make sure my voice is true.

To hear and pray, I too must do my part,
for when we meet together in my heart.
