To Humble Be

It does not hurt a bit to humble be,
don't let my pride, O God, stand in the way,
it does not hurt to fall upon my knee,
and ask You, Lord, to help me as I pray.

To curb my pride is not a harmful thing,
I know I can't do everything alone,
I can't imagine what the Lord can bring,
it doesn't hurt to get Him on the phone.

The Lord commands I worship Him as God,
it's true He made me free to have my pride,
for creatures to bow low is not so odd,
so long as it reflects the truth inside.

Pray, God, You make me humble if You please,
because it's hard to stumble on my knees.
