I Know Enough

I cannot fathom You, Lord, or Your ways,
I do not understand a miracle,
I fear Your punishment for one who strays,
yet well I know that You are merciful.

What is so holy, Lord, about Your name?
What is this daily bread I need to live?
For all the sins I find so hard to tame,
I do know that You’re anxious to forgive.

What is this life eternal that You promise,
this heaven You’ve prepared for us above?
Yet I’m not a completely doubting Thomas,
for I have come to know so much Your love.

Love, mercy, and forgiveness, Lord, it’s true,
I know enough to want to be like You.
