Christ's Honor

Did Christ have self-respect upon the cross?
What did He show of honor hanging there?
Is pain a plus to honor or a loss?
Can honor mix a crucifix with prayer?

His loving heart beat in His bloody breast,
nailed hard to that cruel symbol people cursed,
yet it was on the cross He showed His best,
though worldly ones will only see the worst.

O Christ, I win the honor in Your heart,
I know love lives beneath Your misery,
I see Your pain and honor as a part
of that same sacrifice that sets me free.

I read the bloody details in the book,
honor's inside, not in the way we look.
