Only One Thing

Why cut me off from such a source of grace?
Look, Self, I know there’s lots you want to do,
but comes a time we must cut to the chase,
I will choose God instead of worldly you.

Like Martha, you're so busy with your things,
but only one thing matters to His heart,
to which I hope my heart forever clings,
may He help me to choose the better part.

The world  includes a tendency to sin,
but don’t forget, O Self, I still am free,
and we all know for sure God’s going to win,
now is the time to choose Him Who loves me.

O God, I am the apple of Your eye,
let me receive Your grace before I die.
