Beat God

God loves me so, He does not skip a beat,
He gives me all, and covers all His bases,
He goes great lengths, He gives Himself to eat,
He pains me too, to put me through my paces.

I challenge Him sometimes, He always beats me,
to win with God, I humbly must give in,
at times I don’t enjoy the way He treats me,
so He steps up, forgiving me my sin.

Then on His beat, for me God took a beating,
it had to be, He gives to me a choice,
so few my beats for Him, with life so fleeting,
so little time to love, then to rejoice.

O Lord, let me not skip a beat for You,
Who are to me so faithful and
