The Human Cry
O God, I have no place to turn but You,
for You alone can move the universe,
the more we know, the more we see it’s true,
yet not a soul of us do You coerce.
When tragedies occur, we can’t explain,
we know so much, yet drown in mystery,
for final answers, we but search in vain,
and we get little help from history.
In this world, Lord, what are we certain of?
Without You, we have nothing but our pride,
You made us, so we’re certain of Your love,
when all else crumbles, only You abide.
Of all the stories, Lord, Yours is the best,
so if we trust You most, we will be blest.
